Below is a breakdown of each game offered in the MotionGuidance® Interactive Pods App

Welcome to your new MotionGuidance® Interactive Pods system! Below is a description and video of each game, along with additional information.

 

BASIC SET UP:
Your kit comes complete with 5 MotionGuidance® Interactive PODS, 4 sizes of straps for use on head, trunk, shoulder, or leg, velcro sticky mount pads, adjustable magnet mounts, and the MotionGuidance® combo laser/IR light.

Tips for best use:

MotionGuidance® Interactive pods are a great addition to any standard rehab drill involving coordination, focus, and movement. You can be as creative as you like in creating exercise drills with the light-up pods. Examples may be wearing on the head, and standing in tandom stance as you play challenging games, standing on one leg and wearing the laser on the trunk, or working shoulder ROM via hitting different targets.

For best target response, AIM the pod at the user, and be within 5 feet of the pod. You can adjust how the laser is facing by using the magnetic mount and tilting the face of the mount toward the user.

 

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS:
Download the MotionGuidance® interactive app in the APPLE STORE or GOOGLE PLAY STORE by searching "motion guidance interactive". Next, install the app, and open up one of the games (full descriptions and examples below). Power on each POD you are using by pressing the small circular power button on the side of the pod. Click the "connect" button on the game you choose, and the app will sense how many pods are connected and pair with them. Once you understand the parameters of the game, press "START" and begin!

To charge the pods, simply connect via USB charge cord. Pods can be turned off, but will also power off after a few minutes of non-use.

To charge the Laser/IR combo, connect via USB charge cord.

Mounting the laser: our laser mounts with the parallel and perpendicular mount system, similar to all MotionGuidance® systems. For more info and demos of using this strap and mounting system, please refer to our homepage www.motionguidance.com and product videos.

GOAL: Hit the target that lights up, Check your response time.

In this game you can choose how many targets you want to use, and what colors you want to use. Once you start, one target will light up at a time, and the goal is to hit that target. When you are done, you will be able to see the average time it too to hit each color, in the “realtime data” section.

 

PARAMETERS:

 

COLORS: choose your color

TARGETS: select how many targets you want to light up at once

DELAY: select the delay time between hitting the target and the next target lighting up

TIMEOUT: select the time the target/targets will stay lit, before changing.

LIGHT-SOUND: turn the audible beep on or off

TOUCH-SOUND: if using the touch feature (under “sensor”) choose whether you want the target to beep when you touch it.

SENSOR: Choose LASER ( to activate the target with the MotionGuidance® mounted laser, this is default) or TOUCH (if you want to touch activated targets)

GOAL: Always select the same color target as it switches locations

In this game, you will get points for hitting the correct targets. You are going to choose the colors you want to “hit” and the colors you want to “avoid”. You can choose multiple colors to hit, or not hit, depending on your goals. For example, if you choose GREEN as “HIT”, and RED as “AVOID”, one target will show up in GREEN and the rest are RED: you need to hit the GREEN target. If you choose GREEN AND YELLOW as “HIT” and RED AND BLUE as “AVOID”, the targets will present as GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE and RED, and you only want to “HIT” the GREEN and YELLOW targets to get points.

 

PARAMETERS:

 

HIT COLORS: choose the colors you want to try to hit

AVOID COLORS: choose the colors you want to avoid

QUANTITY LIMIT: choose the amount of HIT targets that can appear at the same time

PROBABILITY: choose between 10-50%, the this is the probability that the target will be a HIT color. If you choose 10% for instance, the HIT colors will appear less frequent.

DELAY: select the delay time between hitting the target and the next target lighting up

TIMEOUT: select the time the target/targets will stay lit, before changing.

LIGHT-SOUND: turn the audible beep on or off

TOUCH-SOUND: if using the touch feature (under “sensor”) choose whether you want the target to beep when you touch it.

GOAL: In this game, you get points for hitting the colors that are “different” than the rest.

You can select what colors you want to use. If you select ALL the colors, and are using 5 targets, each round show 4 of one color and 1 of another color. You get points for hitting target with the different color.

You can change the settings so that 1 target, 2 targets, or 3 targets are “different” colors, but there will always be 2 or more targets the “same color”. Remember, you are only hitting the different colors.

 

PARAMETERS:

 

COLORS: Choose the colors you want to be used during your game.

TARGETS:  Choose how many targets you want to be presented as intended hit targets: this will vary depending on how many targets you are using. For instance, if you set this to 2 targets, and are using all colors, a round may look like 3 red targets and 2 green targets. Here you hit the green targets since they are the minority. Or it may show 3 red targets, a blue target, and a yellow target. Here you hit the blue and yellow targets as these are the minority.

FALSE COLORS: This will allow groups of colors. If you are using 5 pods, the only option here is to set this to “2”, and the “TARGET” field to 1. A round in this setting may present as 2 red targets, 2 yellow targets, and 1 blue target: you would hit the BLUE target for this round to get the points. If you purchase extra targets, you can expand these options

GOAL: Watch your smartphone to tell you the color to hit.

In this game, you will be using your phone to tell you what color/colors to hit. We suggest using the magnetic mount for your smartphone with the app turned on, and can put this in the middle position, with 4 active pods surrounding it. The phone will flash the color you want to hit, and then you have to hit that color. Alternatively, you could use all 5 pods and have a partner yell out the color, or have your phone in eyesight to see what the desired color is. You have the option of having only 1 target light up as the “desired color” or multiple targets. You get points for hitting the color that the app commands.

GOAL: Hit only spefic colors

In this game, the colors will present themselves, and you will have to hit the targets you have selected as “HIT” targets. Once you hit all the “HIT” targets, the round will proceed. Wrong target hits will be noted in “real-time data”.

For instance, if you select green and yellow as “HIT targets”, and red and purple as “AVOID TARGETS”, when the targets light up your instructions are to only hit the colors you choose as “HIT TARGETS”. Changing the “Target” field from 1 to 2, or 3, means that you will have 1, 2 or 3 HIT target colors display each round, respectively.

GOAL: Listen to where the beep is coming from, then hit the target you think beeped!

In this game, your goal is to find the target that beeps. You will have to listen carefully each round to see if you can perceive where the sound is coming from, then hit that target. If the target turns green, you guessed correctly. If the target turns red, choose a different target. Having targets further apart helps the user distinguish where the sound is coming from, so you can choose 2 or more targets and space them in desired distances/directions. Incorrect answers will show up in “real-time data”

GOAL: In this game, you choose a tartet to return to each time before proceeding to the next.

In this game, you will select a target to return to between each action. For instance, under the “homebase target” field, if you select “target 1” as homebase, you will have to return to target 1 after each action. The targets are numbered 1-5 on the pod shell.

 

USER NOTE: You can choose what colors you want to use during the game, but the colors in this game are irrelevant, as you will always be hitting the homebase target between each round. We suggest just using one color (such as red, or green) for all targets.

GOAL: This game allows you to activate targets by either touching them or aiming at them: your goal is to hit the colored targets based on what activation you set!

In this game, you can set targets for one of 2 functions, to activate via LASER hit, or TOUCH. You will notice the display shows 6 colored bars and if you tap the colored bar you can chose A: LASER, or B: TOUCH. You can choose either one or 2 active targets per round. In the colored bar display, choose what action you want each color to represent. If you are only using 2 colors (selected in the “colors field”) you only need to set these colors to a function. For example, if you choose to play with red and green colors, and set red to “LASER” and green to “TOUCH”, each round for every red target that appears you can only activate it by aiming the laser at it, and for every green target that appears you can only activate it by touching it.

GOAL: Hit the target that lights up, Check your response time.

In this game, your goal is to find the target that is “flashing” while all others are not flashing, or the target that is “not flashing” while all the other targets are flashing. This adds a cognitive challenge. In addition, you can also choose to change this to finding the target that demonstrated a "color change", by changing the "logic" parameter

 

PARAMETERS:

 

COLORS: choose your color

LOGIC: choose if you want a flashing target, and/or a color changing target, to be the "intended target"

TARGETS: select how many targets you want to light up at once

DELAY: select the delay time between hitting the target and the next target lighting up

TIMEOUT: select the time the target/targets will stay lit, before changing.

LIGHT-SOUND: turn the audible beep on or off

TOUCH-SOUND: if using the touch feature (under “sensor”) choose whether you want the target to beep when you touch it.

GOAL: Hit the target in the SAME SEQUENCE that they light up in.

In this game, a sequence of colors will flash, then all targets will light up. Your goal is to turn off each target, in the SAME sequence as they first appeared. If you hit a wrong target, the pods will flash RED and the next round will proceed. Score is kept in the "real-time data" section of the app.
